What the Hell am I afraid of?

So I've been afraid of posting anything lately.

Partly because I've been told my writing is repetitive and is re-hashing already covered ground.

Well, I guess...

I've also been told that I should express my pain and conduct healing through the loving arms of the perfect strangers around the world who read this blog.

Well... no.

I'm expressing my desire to inform the public about a really nasty group in Berkeley.  It's one that took its toll on many people and are taking advantage of several who remain there.  So, maybe the stories have a common thread: that good and decent people are exploited and driven into bankruptcy, mental crisis, physical illness and many other unfavorable things.

As far as making a personal confession to all of you for whatever mistakes I made or to express my personal pain in the public space, that won't happen.  At least, it won't happen here in the public eye.  I think what happened to me was not nearly as bad as those who lost their families, their marriages, everything they had including their self-respect.  No doubt, I had my trials and tribulations but those were not nearly as severe as those who had children or marriages in the cult.

I've been worked over pretty good for one thing or another.  Yeah, that caused some pain and suffering.  However, I have received the satisfaction of kicking the Witches of Ellsworth Street's asses with a teremendous legal decision in my favor and by the fact this blog continues to thrive.  What in hell I need with years of public self-loathing and begging for whatever forgiveness and shared whining is beyond me.

Despite that, It's personally heartbreaking to me that so many ex-members have required assistance to overcome the abuse this group has wrought, I lost count.

I will say: while my experience with SRF and the Academy for Psychic Studies has taken a toll, what I need to do for resolution is between my and my God and whoever the FUCK else I want to discuss it with.

Sorry to say, that will be my choice.  Even sorrier to say that will likely not be you guys.

For now at least, I chose to bring whatever insight I can into the practices at the Academy for Psychic Studies.  I hope that will help you out there make a decision in your personal growth.

if you want to adopt the kinds of beliefs that the Academy gives you, don't let me stop you.  All I am saying is you have the right to decide and you have the right  to make up your own mind based on your own information.

And I hope you will receive some of that information right here.

Until next time;  I'm going to figure out what to write.

  1. Informing the public is a valuable service, in my opinion this organization is hoping that the3 experiences of those who do not agree with them are squelched.

  2. It is fine to be repetitative, because every time one writes about a secuence from the things that one has exprienced one remembers something new or have a different angle witch is also important.

  3. I concur with Janhellen. It is good to write about things several times. As someone who has to write quite a bit for school, I often rewrite several times for clarity. If it is not clear and concise and free of bias or opinion which cannot be backed up by empirical evidence, then I have to discard it. It also does not matter if you have to repeat yourself several times. Sometimes we have to hear it many different ways before it finally sinks in.

My experiences at BPI were different from others, and I did not get some pretty bad abuses others did. That still does not impinge on the importance of writing about what happened there.

I have heard stories from other former BPI members who have told me of incredible psychological abuses Lewis and Susan heaped on their upper staff. I only saw a small fraction of that.

Keep writing Mike, write what you need, as often as you need and what you need. Reading your stories has helped put a lot of what happened to me at the institute into perspective and showed me how dangerous the "tech" can be in truly exploitive hands like Duby's or the Witches.
