Retreat from this retreat

What the hell?

I can't believe it.  Somehow, Trulia has listed the infamous SRF Lake Tahoe as a property that (at least was) on the market.

Unlike some other sites, Trulia only displays real estate that has been listed by a realtor.  I mean, my house isn't listed on Trulia.  It ain't for sale, neither.  At first, I thought the listing was just another of those things real estate sites do: they show a property they think might bring in a big commish and hope someone will let them sell it.

They'll do almost anything to get you to sell you house.  I once got a letter from a real estate agent who said his clients were good people and wanted to start a family, loved our neighborhood so we should sell our house to them because they can use it more than we can.

Uhhhh, keep looking buster.

Most of these sites, like Zillow, just have a Google street pic of a house, tell you what they think it is worth and let you take it from there.  If you can talk the owner into selling, go ahead.

I thought this listing was one of those, just giving you a teaser so you'd track down the owners and get them to sell it to you.  However, this post on Trulia has something different about it.  There are interior shots of the house Larry Adams handed over to the cult.  We've all been there so these interior shots should be familiar to us all:

Those interior shots are just not there when a site like Zillow or Trulia post information on your home.  Either the owners post it themselves or a real estate agent does.  Considering the insane level of secrecy the Witches like to maintain, it makes sense the pictures were taken by an agent.

Add to that, Trulia says this place has been listed for 180+ days.  So, I think it was on the market for a while, then pulled off.  It looks like SRF still owns it.  If this place was on the market, obviously it never sold.  At least, it didn't sell fast enough for the Witches.

I am amazed the place looks clean and somewhat appealing.  The greasy cabinets and dusty floors of the house was its most distinctive features to me.  Eating greasy food like the infamous "cheese bread" and slop like the melted ice cream, prison-style chicken casserole and bottled pond water were only a few of the gourmet delights served by the Witches to feed their inmates.  These pictures seems to show a much warmer and nourishing side to this remote internment camp.

There's even a shot of the not-so-beloved bunk room of the Lake Tahoe retreat house.  It should bring back memories.

 For me, it's this:

I can see why the Witches of Ellsworth Street wanted to unload the retreat at Lake Tahoe.  It's a decent home and has value.  It's also owned by the Spiritual Rights Foundation, not the Witches, so the revenue from the sale can be easily hidden.  Unloading this thing is probably the smart thing to do, from the perspective of turning a fixed asset into spending money.

This property listing and all the photos came from a Lake Tahoe local realtor.  That realtor was likely overjoyed at having a listing for a place like this.  It's a good property at a reasonable price for someone who wants to live near Lake Tahoe, which is basically a block down the street.  That agent might be wondering why this place was pulled off the market.

I am as well.

We all know that the Witches are in the middle of the most precipitous meltdown they can experience.  We are all pretty sure they need to raise cash and reduce their real estate holdings as maintaining those properties takes work and work is something the Witches just aren't going to do.

So, I wonder what event caused this property to go off market?  Did someone suddenly give them a load of cash?  Was there another sale that raised so much cash the Witches were flush in green?  Maybe they are having a revival?  Are people still giving them money only because the Witches told them to do it?

I don't know.

Honestly, I'd rather they be stuck with not only this place but the notorious Blue Sky Ranch for a while.  No one is paying them a dime for a weekend of ass-tearing, sleeping in a room with no heat and food that slides around your plate in a sea of stuff you don't want to think about.  If no one is paying them, that's another thing they are paying for with no hope of making a gain.

It does look like one of their former members had a healing practice in the evil house on Ellsworth Street.   That person no longer lists that address as their location.  Actually their present site has no reference to the Academy for Psychic Studies on it at all.  It's not clear if that person left the house of horrors on their own and is in process of setting up elsewhere or if the Witches demanded they keep the address a secret.  What may be telling is that this person proudly listed that address before and even added a quote from Reverend William Duby himself on their previous site.  So, you might figure out which of those scenarios seems to be plausible.

Just around the time the Lake Tahoe house was heaved on the market, the former Bishop flew the coop and follower after follower have left.  Even before then, the ranks diminished from skinny to razor-thin.  As there is no one left to abuse (well, there's at least one of them, I guess) and no one appears to want to take their mind control classes, it looks like things got even darker for the Witches of Ellsworth Street.

So if the Witches are chasing out those who may support them and if they are holding on to whatever assets are costing them more than they are bringing in, what do you suppose is happening there - besides what we already know: the jig is up and the Witches are now paying the piper.
